WHAT IS THE GRAND PRIX?

The Detroit Grand Prix is a 501(c)3 organization and a subsidiary of the Downtown Detroit Partnership. The organization hosts the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear, which is scheduled for June 11-13, 2021 at Belle Isle Park. As part of its tenancy at Belle Isle Park, the Grand Prix financially contributes to key improvement projects around the island, including an event fee and projects like the restoration of the lights on the MacArthur Bridge. This year’s event will include the Chevy Dual in Detroit featuring the cars of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, the Chevrolet Sports Car Classic with the exotic sports cars of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, and the rising stars of the Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires Series. WHAT IS THE GRAND PRIXMIERE?

The PwC Grand Prixmiere presented by Chevrolet is the official launch party of the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix. It is a gala event that brings Grand Prix race supporters together with Belle Isle Park supporters to celebrate the island. The proceeds from the Grand Prixmiere gala are part of a variety of funding sources that helps to support the operations of Belle Isle Conservancy. Past funds generated at the Grand Prixmiere have also provided funding for the Belle Isle Aquarium’s mobile “Education Station”, and this year will raise funds for a floating dock on the shores of Lake Tacoma behind the Aquarium, which will enhance the facility’s educational programming capabilities. In 2018, $450,000 of the $1 million raised at the annual Grand Prixmiere gala was dedicated to needed repairs that will stabilize the iconic James Scott Memorial Fountain until the necessary funding is secured to overhaul its antiquated operation system.

Belle Isle Conservancy has no deciding authority with regards to the Detroit Grand Prix contract.
