Belle Isle Conservancy, in partnership with the Detroit Historical Society’s Detroit 67 Project, is honored to present 67 Seconds of Peace. This free community event will take place on September 21st at 5:30 p.m., in conjunction with the United Nations' International Day of Peace. It will be a time of quiet contemplation of the events of July 1967 that took place in the city, and on Belle Isle.
Highlights will include a reflective reading by poet Marsha Music, a positive, interactive photo display, and 67 Seconds of Silence led by Pastor Barry Randolph of Church of the Messiah.
Join us, at the Nancy Brown Peace Carillon Tower on Belle Isle, in this collaborative community remembrance of the history of our city - inspiring optimism for our future.
